Named after a Belgian sandstone cavalier that sits jovially on a keg above the bar, The Cavalier is an Auckland institution and has been so for over 130 years.
It was built when Ponsonby was called Dedwood, and the whole area only sparsely populated.
Nowadays ‘The Cav’ is Aucklands premier bar for catching that big game or match. Situated on College Hill just below Ponsonby, the ‘Cav’ has been the focus of a great night out ever since.
The Cavalier has a range of function options available from chilling out by the fireplace to that rollicking party spilling out onto the deck.
Our restaurant has a great selection of mouth watering treats, whether it’s a quick snack on the run or a full three course meal. Our selection includes: Bar snacks, Entees, Burgers, Fish, Chicken, Steaks, Salads, Vegetarian, Desserts and Coffees.
Don’t forget we also have a large selection of imported and New Zealand wines to accompany your meal. You can eat either inside or outside on the spacious deck.
